Such is the power of the Sun-god that even Lord Vishnu in his human incarnation, invoked him for strength and victory. Symbolically, he is the icon of true knowledge as he is light which dispels the darkness of ignorance. This true knowledge has the power to remove all doubts, thus strengthening one to take on all challenges placed in front of them.

As we journey through the myths, mantras, and mysteries surrounding this divine luminary, we invite readers to connect with the timeless energy of Surya, the god who watches over us, shines upon us, and inspires us to rise above and reach for the light within.

Rasas in Divine Relationships

Rasas are emotions, the plethora of feelings experienced by our gods, fellow humans, and even our mighty animal kingdom. It transforms an external experience into an internal feeling, which in turn enables us to form our society, our relations, and eventually ourselves. Each of us can be described by features dominated by a single emotion or a combination of emotions. Thus, it is safe to say that essentially rasa is in everything and everything has rasa—our everyday, our vulnerabilities, our struggles, and most of all our triumphs. Sadly, our hectic lifestyles are driving us farther away from our abilities to express and experience our emotions freely. Bounded by social restrictions, we, the new, modern humans, are allowing ourselves to be held back by our liabilities.

Seven Immortals

“Ashwatthama Balir Vyaso Hanumanash cha Vibhishana Krupacharya cha Parashuramam Saptaita Chiranjeevanam”

Seven Immortals, narrates the lives of
Seven immortals who were all high achieving, male characters from Ramayana, Mahabharata and the puranas. The amazing part is that they are immortal only till Kalyug ends followed by pralaya. This means the world will come to an end to start all over again with Satyuga. What an irony? Immortal yet not. The reason for them being male could be the influence of the patriarchal society. Their stories are intriguing and are unique in their own way. We can learn very important life lessons from each one of them. Surprisingly, they are valid in today’s world too.

Shravan, Swar, Darshan Tales, chants and temples

Story telling or the Shravan parampara has been a popular concept for
thousands of years. In fact it was the only way of passing down the
events and stories. Documenting them started much later. Shiva told the
first story to his consort Parvati and when animals and birds heard the
Shiva Parvati samvad, they narrated it to the sages, who foretold them to
common people and so on.

Our texts hold many treasures including the powerful mantras, hymns
and chants written by the great sages of the past who have with their
severe penance and spiritual and yogic practices attained the highest
knowledge.

The stories and hymns in our scriptures are connected to many beautiful
ancient temples which were built by sages and Kings of the times on
spots of special power or where idols appeared by themselves, thus called
swayambhu, one that appears on its own.

Let us embark on this journey to discover these and see how they can help us to be better versions of ourselves.
